Welfare Rights Assistance ( Refugees/Entrants/Asylees, Vietnamese Community )

The program provides advocacy and support services primarily to newly-arrived refugees and immigrants from Asia, Latin American, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. Services include immigrant visa application assistance, interpretation/translation assistance, specialized information and referral, and welfare rights assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

Immigrant Visa application assistance helps individuals understand and begin the process to become citizens.

Interpretation/translation assistance helps individuals by translating forms and documents to an individual's native language.

Specialized information and referral connects individuals with local services which are not directly offered by the agency.

Advocacy services include immigration assistance and welfare rights assistance to assist clients in obtaining benefits and services to which they are entitled, including AFDC and other public assistance programs; services also include providing counseling and information regarding the Public Charge determination. The program also acquaints clients with available private and public resources. Translation and interpretation services are also provided. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information or an appointment. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
