Wheelchair Sports ( Youth )


The organization provides athletic and recreational opportunities for youth and adults who have physical disabilities. Services include recreational activities/sports, wheelchair sports, specialized information and referral and organizational development and management services. There are no geographic restrictions.

The organization is a network made up of athletes, chapter organizations and sporting event opportunities hosted regionally and internationally.

It promotes athletic development through education, coaching, advocacy and competition. They also offer a regional and national outreach network to engage, empower and support the adaptive sport-minded community. It also provides resources, outreach, education and competitive opportunities to its members.

The sports programs include archery, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis and track and field. Many chapter members offer local sport training opportunities in these sports as well as regional and national competitions.

The organization also provides the Junior Nationals. It is a competitive sports event for athletes with physical disabilities ages 6 to 22 in North America. It is a week-long national sport championship event for young athletes with a physical disability and/or visual impairment. The sports include archery, power-lifting, swimming, table tennis and track and field. Also included in the event is educational and social opportunities. It is held at various locations throughout the United States. The event has served as the developmental training ground for some of the Paralympic athletes in the United States.
