Foster Home Placement

The agency provides out-of-home-care for Department of Children and Family Services and Department of Mental Health referred children age 18 and younger in Los Angeles. Services include residential treatment services for severely emotionally disturbed boys age seven to 16 who may have been physically, emotionally and or sexually abused and have experienced multiple placement failure, foster home placement for children age 18 and younger, and foster parent/family recruitment. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

After placement in the residential facility, the child receives psychiatric, psychological and educational evaluation. Most residents attend an on-site, non-public, school, Canyon View School; other boys attend schools operated by the Bonita School District.

While in residence, boys receive extensive individual, group and family guidance services as well as day treatment services. The facility utilizes competency building techniques and encourages the boys to participate in a variety of social and recreational activities. Boys who are not able to be reunited with their biological, extended, foster families may be placed in a group home or foster care program under the supervision of McKinley staff.
