In Person Crisis Intervention
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH - SAN PEDRO MENTAL HEALTH CENTER - ACCESS LINE
The agency provides outpatient rehabilitative, treatment and case management services for adults age 18 and older who are severely mentally ill and/or experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis who live in San Pedro, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Wilmington, and southern parts of Harbor City and Lomita. Services are also provided once a month in Avalon on Catalina Island. There are geographic restrictions.
Services include evaluation and diagnosis; medication evaluation and maintenance; crisis intervention; support groups; case management; evaluation for involuntary hospitalization and wellness services; employment services; life skills classes; and prevention and early intervention services.
The agency also provides an MHSA funded Wellness Center to provide services and support to mental health clients who are in recovery and no longer need intensive mental health services. The Wellness Center provides self-help mental health support groups; peer to peer support groups; social/recreational activities; medication evaluation and support services; employment and education services, and integrated services and support for co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse.
In addition the centers provide physical health screenings, and assistance with referrals to health care providers. The program also provides healthy living and health management education. Referrals are given for, housing possibilities, benefit maintenance and short term or crisis mental health services.
