School Based Teen Parent/Pregnant Teen Programs
Provider: WEST COVINA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
The school district administers education services for students in kindergarten through grade 12 who reside within the West Covina Unified School District boundaries. Services include alternative education, charter schools, school based teen parent/pregnant teen programs, and unified school districts. The district operates eight elementary schools, two middle schools, one K-8 Charter School, two comprehensive high schools, a Continuation High School, and an Independent Study Program. Geographic restrictions apply.
Pregnant students or students who are parents may enroll in the Teen Parent Program in the Continuation School. This program offers classes in parenting skills and provides careful supervision of students so that they will continue to earn credit toward graduation, particularly if they miss school due to the birth of a baby.
The Independent Study Program allows students to pick up work each week from their teachers, complete the work at their own convenience, and then meet with their teachers at scheduled times for feedback on their progress.
