Professional Schools (Rehabilitation Issues, Blindness)

The agency provides post-secondary education for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include continuing education, disease/disability information and professional schools. There are no geographic restrictions.
The credential programs prepare special education teachers in the areas of mild/moderate disabilities, moderate/severe disabilities, Physical and Health Impairments, Visual Impairments and Early Childhood Special Education. The Orientation and Mobility program trains master level students to teach independent movement and travel skills to bling and visually impaired people of all ages. The California Association of Orientation and Mobility Specialists (CAOMS) is housed at the same facility, coordinates activities and meetings that are of interest to professional orientation and mobility instructors. The organization also provides speakers for groups and agencies who are interested in learning about mobility or in in-service training for a specific population.

The program leads to an MA in Special Education and eligibility for a public school Rehabilitative Services Credential. Programs include School Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling and School Psychology.

Application Procedure
Contact the CSULA Division of Special Education at the number above for more information about the graduate program about CAOMS, or to request a community education program. People may enter the academic program in the fall quarter; the number of new graduate students accepted is very limited.
Fees
Students pay the required fees for the academic program; stipends, student loans, and other financial assistance may be available through the CSULA Center for Student Financial Services or through assistance provided by the federal training grants. There are no fees for referrals to instructors or community education programs.
