Crime Victim Support
Provider: CITY OF TORRANCE POLICE DEPARTMENT
The agency provides law enforcement services for the city of Torrance. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting/removal, adult fingerprinting, adult sexual assault prevention, business security evaluations, crime prevention, crime victim support, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, personal safety education, police reports, police ride-alongs, residential security evaluations, technical assistance specializations, and temporary restraining order assistance. Services are restricted to the city of Torrance.
Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.
The department's crime prevention programs include presentations for children and youth in local schools, and presentations for adults and business groups. Staff assist people to form block parent programs and neighborhood watch groups.
The agency's crime prevention programs for adults include rape awareness, home and personal security, and shoplifting presentations for the community and businesses as well as a special safety program for seniors. It also helps to organize Neighborhood Watch programs.
The agency fingerprints adult residents, on request, who are applying for state, county, or city licensing for a business or for employment.

Service hours
SERVICE HOURS : Police and crime reporting services are provided Monday through Sunday, 24 hours per day. People may pick up an application for a ride-along or for the reserve officer program Monday through Sunday, 8:00am to 12:00 midnight. Hours for other services are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
