AT HOME COVID-19 TESTS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND OR HAVE LOW VISION

Beginning September 25, 2023, at-home Covid-19 tests that are more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision are now available. The tests work with a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet app to give users audible instructions and test results. Due to limited supply, these tests are only intended for individuals who do not have other options for using the standard Covid-19 test. Individuals who can receive help from a household member or other trusted person and those who use assistive technology such as AIRA or Be My Eyes are asked to order and use standard Covid-19 tests.

Users must have a compatible bluetooth enabled smartphone and download a free app from the Apple App store (for iOS) or Google Play store (for Android).

Tests may be ordered online at https://special.usps.com/testkits/accessible, or by calling (800) 232-0233. Each order will include 2 rapid antigen tests; orders will ship free while supplies last.

Individuals who need additional assistance with ordering tests, understanding instructions, or finding alternative testing options can call the Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) at (888) 677-1199 Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 9:00pm EST, or email DIAL@usaginganddisability.org.
