Talklines/Warmlines

Provider: COMMUNITY HELPLINE

The program provides telephone warmline counseling services to people living in Los Angeles County. Services include telephone support, listening, and information and referral service. The Helpline assists people of all ages and has a toll-free phone number available throughout California. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Helpline is designed to aid people who are having difficulty coping with the stresses and crises which arise in daily living or who are concerned about particular personal or interpersonal problems. The issues people call about may include marital difficulties, divorce, bereavement, parent-child conflict, family communication, loneliness, substance abuse, and suicidal feelings. The agency assists callers in clarifying the issues that concern them, explores alternatives for dealing with the problem, and offers support to assist callers to find their own resolution, but does not give advice. All calls are handled confidentially, and referrals are available for additional or ongoing services if needed.

Note: The service is not intended as a hotline, and listeners may not always be available.
