VITA Programs

The agency provides tax assistance services to individuals in Los Angeles County and throughout the United States. Services include advanced earned income credit information, earned income credit information, AARP tax aide programs, federal government information lines targeted to tax issues, federal income tax information, federal income tax information for the hearing impaired, federal tax collection agencies, tax fraud reporting and VITA programs. There are no geographic restrictions.
The agency administers and enforces the tax laws of the federal government. Staff provide phone and in-person federal tax information and assistance, process tax returns, collect delinquent taxes, audit and assess taxes, and investigate criminal violations of federal tax laws. Services include referring individuals to Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) providers who offer free tax assistance for low to moderate ($50,000 or below) people, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speakers who have tax questions or need help completing their tax forms.
The agency provides information about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Advance Earned Income Tax Credit, and Work Opportunity Tax Credit for people who meet eligibility guidelines.
The agency also offers workshops and speakers.
