Air Safety Complaints
Provider: FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION - FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE - LOS ANGELES
The agency provides government regulatory services for people of all ages in Los Angeles and throughout the United States. Services include records/licenses/permits services for pilots, air traffic controllers and flight mechanics, as well as air safety complaints services. It also maintains a registry for owners of unmanned aircrafts (drones) of a certain weight. There are no geographic restrictions.
As of December 21, 2015, people age 13 and older who are citizens or legal permanent residents, and own unmanned aircrafts over .55lbs and less than 55lbs must register online with the Federal Aviation Administration's Unmanned Aircraft System Registry (UAS). If the owner is younger than 13, a person 13 or older must register the aircraft. People who do not register could face civil and criminal penalties. People must register by paper if their unmanned aircraft weighs more than 55lbs., it is used for commercial purposes or anything other than hobby or recreation, or they intend to operate their aircraft outside the United States. Registration is valid for three years and multiple aircrafts may be registered with one entry. Registration numbers must be marked on all the aircraft being used; more information about how to label aircrafts may be found online.
