Stepfamily/Blended Family Support Groups

The program provides counseling for people who live in Los Angeles County and West Orange County. Services include mutual support groups, information and education for stepparents, remarried parents, adults who are in the role of a stepparent, and for their children. It acts as a support network for stepfamilies and links them with local resources as well as those provided by the national organization. In addition, the association provides speakers for community groups about issues related to stepfamilies and can refer professionals who work with stepfamilies to training programs to increase their awareness and skills. There are no geographic restrictions.

The services available for stepfamily members include a variety of informational materials about issues that families often deal with; monthly educational meetings which may include social activities, recreational events like picnics and potlucks; referrals to mental health and other professionals who have completed the training program related to working with stepfamilies, mutual support groups and stepteen support groups.

There are no geographical restrictions for service and people are not required to be members to obtain information or referrals or to attend the support group meetings.
