The agency provides early childhood education for children ages three months to five years who live in Santa Monica. Services include a preschool for children. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
The Growing Place is a Reggio-inspired early childhood development center.
Teachers work with small groups of children to follow their development and to encourage curiosity and learning. Daily activities include small group work and focused experiences working with open-ended materials such as clay, watercolor and paper. Teachers and children work on long-term, in-depth projects which promote literacy and a disposition toward learning.
Parents are required to participate in activities and be involved with the program. Special parent support services include individual parent/teacher conferences, parent education nights, a library geared toward parents, and various family events.
