AIDS/HIV Prevention Counseling

The agency provides health education for gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in Los Angeles county. Services include AIDS/HIV prevention and street outreach in the West Hollywood area. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.
WeHo Streets is a nightly out reach program for gay and bisexual men, and transgender women in the West Hollywood area. Staff conduct non-invasive outreach in high risk areas including bars, street corners, markets, fast food restaurants and parks. Staff provide in-depth encounters, repeat encounters, and distribute risk reduction supplies. The Social Network and HIV Counseling and Testing Program provides prevention services for gay men, bisexuals and transgender women who are at high risk of HIV acquisition and transmission. Individuals must be identified and recruited by peer advocates; HIV testing and linkage with medical, social and psychological resources is offered. The TransAction program provides additional health and support services for transgender women. The agency does not provide drop-in HIV testing. ASK PrEP is a support program available to existing program participants includes HIV/AIDS prevention counseling. Services include five sessions to assess PrEP readiness and adherence in individuals. Staff provide one-one-one counseling and case management meetings, to assess risk factors and develop an individualized plan. Staff also partners with local medical providers to appropriately link individuals to PrEP medical services. TransAction is a health education and risk reduction program designed to educate and reduce high-risk sexual and drug behaviors in transgender women. The program provides services through street-based outreach, site based groups, and one on one interventions to assist with HIV risk reductions.
