This government regulatory agency department is responsible for the enforcement of local and state public health laws and regulations pertaining to children's camps, organized camps and school cafeterias. It conducts inspections but does not accept direct public complaints. There are no geographic restrictions.

To file a complaint about a camp or school cafeteria for any of the following reasons, contact the Environmental Health Customer Call Center at (888) 700-9995 (please see entry LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH - ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH HEADQUARTERS):

  • does not have clean bathrooms with soap, water, toilet paper, and hand towels
  • has pests like rats, mice, and cockroaches
  • has unsanitary food conditions and improper food handling
  • does not have enough light to see well
  • does not have hot and cold running water
  • does not have a clean workplace inside and out
