Discounted Internet Service
Provider: FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION
The commission provides financial assistance for low-income households nationwide, through oversight of the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). As of January 2022, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) replaced the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices. Services include discounted internet service for income-eligible families. There are no geographic restrictions.
Eligible households will be able to enroll in the ACP to receive a monthly $30 discount on internet service through a participating provider (up to $75 per month for households on qualifying tribal lands), and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50).
Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household. To receive the connected device discount, consumers need to enroll in the ACP with a participating provider. To find a list of internet providers participating in the ACP, please visit: Affordable Connectivity Program Providers.
A household is eligible for the ACP if a member of the household meets one of the criteria below:
- Has an income that is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, Lifeline or other programs;
- Approved to receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year;
- Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year
