The agency provides consumer assistance to people living in Los Angeles County and throughout the United States. Services include charitable organizations complaints and truth in charitable giving/use of contributions services. There are no geographic restrictions.
The agency produces reports on national charities based on comprehensive Standards for Charity Accountability and publishes a magazine, the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Guide. National charities that meet the standards can apply to participate in the Alliance's National Charity Seal program.
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance produces reports on nationally soliciting charitable organizations. The agency does not rank charities but rather seeks to assist donors in making informed judgments.
In addition, a nationally soliciting charity can request to be evaluated at its own initiative by completing the national charity enrollment form online at the agency's web site.
The agency accepts complaints from the public about charitable organizations either via mail to the agencies address or online at the agency's web site.
Complaints will be forwarded to the organization and with a request that appropriate action be taken. Reports can be made annonymously if requested or by checking the appropriate box on their web site.
