The agency provides law enforcement services for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting, citizen police academies, conflict resolution training, crime prevention, drug abuse prevention/education, emergency protective orders, identity theft prevention, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, officer bill programs, personal safety education, police reports, sexual assault prevention, temporary restraining orders, and truancy counseling. Services are restricted to Pasadena.

Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.

The programs include neighborhood watch programs for residents and businesses; community education and outreach which provides information about fraud, burglary prevention, alarm systems, drug abuse, and personal security and rape education.

The department also maintains a youth advisors program for teens and young adults. It operates a citizens police academy, a police explorer program for youth, ages 14 to 21, who are interested in law enforcement.

Police reports may be requested in person or by mailing a request to the police department, records office on the first floor.
