Maternity Homes

The program is a maternity home for single pregnant women 18 years and older who have no other children with them in Los Angeles County. The maternity home is not an emergency shelter or same-day shelter. The program cannot accept pregnant women with children, pregnant women who have communicable diseases, drug or alcohol dependency, or severe mental or emotional disorders. The program accepts women up to 32 weeks of pregnancy. Participants may stay until two months after the baby is born. There are no geographic restrictions.

  The home can accommodate four women. Residents are required to assist with household chores, attend school, and sign an agreement of compliance with house rules and policies, which includes no smoking.

  Residents participate in weekly counseling sessions. Counseling services help residents explore the options to raise the child or place the baby with an adoptive family. Supportive services include nutrition, childbirth, infant care, self-esteem/motivation and homemaking classes.

   The program accepts donations of maternity clothes, baby clothes, household items and office equipment.
