Disaster Preparedness Information

Provider: LOS ANGELES EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOUNDATION

The foundation works with the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department to improve community resilience to natural and man-made disasters in the Los Angeles area. Services include disaster preparedness information and partnerships. Services are generally provided to businesses in the city of Los Angeles.

Trained disaster preparedness specialists spend one to two hours at small business locations to provide free emergency plan development and on-site risk consulting services. The program includes education on employee preparedness, insurance considerations, SBA, FMEA, and city and county of Los Angeles services and capabilities.

The foundation also manages the Business Operations Center (BOC) located inside the City of Los Angeles Emergency Operations Center (LAEOC). Representatives from 14 sectors including business, academic, faith-based, non-profit, and community groups each have a seat in the BOC to represent their sector and coordinate resources and capabilities in the event of a disaster.

The foundation also works with community groups and organizations to support the needs of the homeless and underserved population in the mission district of Los Angeles. LAEPF has provided blankets, hats and disaster supplies to the area.
