Small Business Development

This agency provides business services for people in Los Angeles County. Services are targeted to low to moderate-income small business owners and minority small business owners. Services include business consulting services, entrepreneurial training and small business development. There are no geographic restrictions.

The center provides business plan development and marketing assistance, including minority small business development services and technical assistance. Its entrepreneurial training program is a multi-course program for start-up businesses. The center also sponsors business seminars for the general public.

Clients are provided with individual business counseling with multi-lingual business counselors. Counselors provide in-language technical assistance and training in financial management, general operations, marketing, business plan development, processing and obtaining permits and certifications, access to capital, loan packaging, post-loan support, and resource referral.

The Entrepreneur Training Program (ETP) teaches enrollees to learn how to launch their small business. Participants obtain a solid foundation on how to start or expand a small business. The ETP course covers: developing a business plan, licenses and permits, learning the importance of credit, how to access capital, business legal issues, insurance and much more. Individual business counseling is also available for more personalized assistance. The ETP is presented throughout the year in five Los Angeles Communities: Chinatown, Historic Filipino Town, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town. Services are conducted in English, Japanese, Korean, Khmer, Tagalog, Thai, Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese.
