Medical Information Services (Sickle Cell Anemia)

The association provides health services related to sickle cell disease for people in Los Angeles County and nationwide. Services include disease/disability information, health/disability related support groups, medical information lines, research, and voluntary health organizations. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency links callers with the organization's local chapter which offers education; support for people who have the disease and for their families; self-help groups and referrals for screening programs and genetic counseling.

The agency also provides vocational rehabilitation referrals, sponsors camps for children who have the disease through its member organizations, supports research regarding improved treatment techniques and potential cures and offers educational materials upon request.
