Professional Continuing Education

Provider: HADLEY INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

The school provides services for people with disabilities, age 14 and older, and adults who are legally blind worldwide as well as their families in Los Angeles County. Services include adult high school diploma programs, Braille instruction, distance education, independent living skills instruction, parenting skills classes, professional continuing education, recreational/leisure/arts instruction, and special education. Services are targeted to individuals who are visually impaired. There are no geographic restrictions.

To be eligible for the general education program a person must be at least 14 years of age and legally blind or have the prognosis of legal blindness, and the ability to understand courses at the high school level written in English.

Education is also provided for the parents or grandparents of a blind child or a family member of a blind adult. Services are also provided for professionals in the field of blindness.

The School provides over 100 accredited courses in areas which include the following programs: Adult Continuing Education, High School Education, Family Education, and The Hadley School for Professional Studies. Curriculum is available in braille, large print, audio or online.
