Mortgage Payment Assistance (Disaster Victims)

Provider: CALIFORNIA HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY

The agency provides disaster services for families displaced by a California disaster. Services include mortgage payment assistance for disaster victims. There are no geographic restrictions.

The CalAssist Mortgage Fund is a state program that provides relief from mortgage payments for eligible displaced families whose homes were destroyed or left uninhabitable by a qualified California disaster from January 1, 2023 through January 8, 2025, including the Palisades Fire or Eaton Fire.

The program may pay for up to three (3) months of mortgage payments, up to a maximum of $20,000. Grants are paid directly to mortgage providers and never have to be repaid.

Individuals must own a single-family home, condominium or permanently affixed manufactured home (may include up to 4 units), with a mortgage or reverse-mortgage. Income limits also apply.

The program will begin accepting applications on June 12, 2025. Funds are limited; applications will be reviewed in the order received.

Please visit CalAssist Mortgage Fund to view eligibility requirements and additional program details.
