Provider: UNITED STATES COAST GUARD - BASE LOS ANGELES - LONG BEACH

The agency provides services to military personnel who are active, reserve, retired, and recently separated coast guard (within 180 days) in Los Angeles County. Services include academic counseling, employee assistance programs, job search/placement, military records, prejob guidance, and tuition assistance. There are no geographic restrictions. The Work Life Office provides coaching, training, and resource referral for Coast Guard personnel who are relocating within the service and who are separating or recently separated from the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard Support Program provides 24/7 assistance with family/relationship problems, financial consultation, legal issues, alcohol abuse, crisis management, and health coaching. The Employee Assistance Program Administrator provides confidential consultations, training, and information/referral in the following areas: suicide awareness/prevention, Critical Incident Stress, sexual assault awareness/counseling, gambling addiction, and workplace violence prevention. The Educational Services Officer manages education programs including tuition assistance, credit-by-examination tests, and end-of-course tests. The Family Advocacy Specialist helps members and their families resolve domestic violence, child abuse. neglect, elder abuse, and parent abuse issues. The Family Resource Specialist assists with adoption reimbursements, elder care options, family member scholarships, child care subsidies, and family care plans. The Health Promotion Manager supports physical fitness, nutrition and weight management, stress management, tobacco cessation, cardiovascular health, and substance abuse prevention. Transition/Relocation Manager provides counseling, coaching, and training in the following areas: job search and career planning, retirement/transition seminars, separation travel, career and personality assessment, resume writing assistance, spousal employment assistance, relocation services, and financial counseling education. This office also manages the area Ombudsman program.
