Crisis Shelter

The Enhanced Emergency Shelter Program is a crisis shelter program designed for transitional age youth, age 18 to 25 who are at risk of homelessness and, are severely/chronically mentally ill. Services include crisis shelters and domestic violence shelters for former foster youth. Services are provided at locations throughout the county. There are no geographic restrictions. Eligibility includes that the young adult have no income, no physical disability and that they are not currently under conservatorship, or have an open DCFS, Probation, or Parole case. Undocumented young adults are accepted. Transportation to the confidential shelter locations may be available; or may be provided by the referring agency by means of bus fare or taxi vouchers. The EESP is for temporary shelter of up to one month. Residents receive meals, and services which include linkages to permanent housing, employment services, public benefits assistance and mental health services. Female domestic violence victims may stay at a confidential DV shelter location.
