Adult Day Health Programs
Provider: SILVER STRAND CARE
The center provides adult day health care services for adults age 18 and older who have health problems, including senior citizens and people who have developmental disabilities or manageable mental and emotional problems. Services include adult day health programs. The Central Adult Center primarily serves people who live in the central Los Angeles area bounded by the Golden State Freeway on the north, North Temple St. on the south, Broadway on the east, and Alvarado St. on the west. However, eligible people from other nearby areas may be considered. The Silver Strand Care serves individuals in the Van Nuys area.
The program targets people who need treatment and support to continue living independently. This may include people who have diabetes, arthritis, respiratory problems, heart conditions, brain damage, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease or those who have had surgery or strokes.
Services include medical and nursing services; physical, occupational, speech, and recreational therapy; psychological services; educational classes; nutritional and social counseling; group exercises; medication supervision; personal care; and breakfast, a snack, and a hot lunch.
Services are tailored to the individual needs of the participant; most people participate in the group activities which are designed to promote intellectual and social stimulation and to reduce the sense of isolation often experienced by older adults. People who use canes, walkers, and wheelchairs are welcome.
Transportation to and from the program is provided for participants who live within the service area.
