Roadside Landscape Maintenance

The Bureau provides public works for residents in Los Angeles. Services include pothole repair, roadside landscape maintenance, sidewalk repair, street cleaning, street construction/repair, street maintenance, street vendor permits, street vendor complaints, weed abatement/brush clearance on uninhabited land, and tree removal. Services are restricted to the city of Los Angeles.
The bureau is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning and repair of all Los Angeles City streets, bridges, drainage facilities, retaining walls, and tunnels. This includes removal or monitoring of vehicular traffic and public-right-of-way hindrances such as trash cans or bins, illegal dumping, non-compliant street vending, and oil or fluid discharge.
It is also responsible for repair of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways; tree trimming, removal and spraying; and construction of ADA access curbramps.
It monitors unimproved lot clearance, median maintenance, street usage, and tree and landscaping patterns.
The Street Services Investigation and Enforcement division processes applications for Special Event street closures. The permit covers athletic events such as runs, street fairs, and other special events that require street closures. Parades, processions and demonstrations require Police Department permits.
The agency's Sidewalk and Park Vending program issues street vending permits for both food and merchandise. Complaints regarding street vending are handled by 311.
