Parenting/Family Support Groups
Provider: EXCHANGE CLUB FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER
The program offers family life education to families with children age birth to 12 years in the Long Beach and Downey areas. Services include parenting skills development and a parenting support group for moms; a special program is available for parents of teens. There are no geographic restrictions.
LOVING SOLUTIONS, A Parent Project Curriculum is geared towards parents with young children up to 10 years old. This class is designed specifically to provide tools to help parents of young children, especially those posing significant challenges, regain control and build confidence.
The Parent Project is for parents of strong-willed or out of control adolescent children. Classes focus on truancy and failing grades, alcohol or drug abuse, gang involvement, runaway situations and violent behaviors.
ABC Parenting is for parents of infants. Classes focus on infant care, brain development, communication and role-modeling.
An infant massage class is also available for parents of infants between three and six months old. Participants learn how to bond with baby, increase baby sleep time, promote brain/muscle development and touch relaxation techniques.
Ready, Set, Grow is an 8-week support group for pregnant moms. Participants receive illustrated handbooks and learn easy ways to implement activities in an interactive setting. Moms can attend with our without a partner.
