Child Care Volunteer Opportunities

The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals in the Downey area. Services include child care volunteer opportunities and parenting support volunteer opportunities for the agency's Parent-Aide program. The agency's service area includes Downey, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, Pico Rivera, Paramount, Norwalk, La Mirada, Bellflower, Hawaiian Gardens, Artesia, Cerritos, Lakewood, Lynwood, Bell Gardens, Long Beach and Signal Hill.

Volunteer opportunities are available for parent aides that provide in-home parenting education for parents of children, age 2 to 12; and child care providers to babysit during on-site classes. Parent aide volunteers must be at least 21 years old and have reliable transportation. A comprehensive training program is mandatory as well as a screening that includes personal interviews, references verification and fingerprint checks. Volunteers are supervised by a professional case worker. Volunteers for the child care program must be 13 years of age or older. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Volunteers are not required to speak any languages other than English.
