Provider: CITY OF LOS ANGELES - COMMUNITY INVESTMENT FOR FAMILIES DEPARTMENT - WEST ADAMS FAMILYSOURCE - 1736 FAMILY CRISIS CENTER

The division provides family support services through a network of contracted agencies and seven Youth and Family Centers in the City of Los Angeles. Services include case/care management for at-risk families, certificates/forms assistance for immigration issues, child passenger safety education and car seats, English As a Second Language, kinship caregiver support groups, and specialized information and referral for community-based social services through participating human service agencies. Services are restricted to residents the City of Los Angeles.

Each center houses representatives of various community-based organizations that provide a range of services, including advocacy, health, immigration, individual development accounts, mental health, literacy and language instruction and substance abuse related support groups. The centers also provide neighborhood forums and organizing assistance through the city Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

A free child passenger safety education program is also available. The program includes information about choosing and installing the right car seat, safety seat laws, and penalty fines. The program works in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to perform installation checks. Participants may be eligible to receive a free car seat upon completion.
