Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance

The FamilySource centers provides emergency food programs for low-income families in the City of Los Angeles. Services include a brown bag food program for seniors, age 60 and older, is provided at the Bradley Milken Family Source Center in Watts; occasional emergency food assistance; and ongoing emergency food assistance.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank provides a weekly food pantry service at several center locations. People may return for service once a month. Food includes basic commodities such as canned and bulk food, cereal, and occasionally fresh produce and bread.

The HEAL brown bag food program for older adults, age 60 and older, is a brown bag program that provides a pre-prepared box of food such as canned good, protein, whole grain items such as bread and cereal, and 5 pounds of fresh produce. People are expected to bring re-usable bags and/or a cart to carry the food. The program is held one time per month on Friday. If transportation is a problem call the Bradley Milken Family Source center.

Enrollment for CalFresh EBT card can also be done at the time of the first food pantry visit. Staff from the Regional Food Bank assist clients with application for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Progam, which allows them to purchase additional food items in regular grocery stores.
