Parenting Skills Classes

Provider: GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE - CONTINUING AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION DIVISION - GARFIELD CAMPUS

The school offers family life education programs which includes parent education classes. Classes are primarily for adults 18 and older who live in the Glendale, La Crescenta and Montrose areas. Services include parenting education and parenting skills development. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Parent Education Program provides a side-by-side learning experience for parents and their young children. Students participate in music, dance, stories, and art activities with their children in an observational preschool setting.

Children also have the opportunity to learn social skills with their peers. Parenting issues are explored in discussion groups lead by professional parent educators.

For parents and caregivers of older children, the Positive Parenting-Skills class provides an adult-only forum for the discussion of school problems, bullying, discipline, single-parenting, or other parenting issues as determined by the need of the students enrolled in the class.

The Discipline and Anger Management class focuses on developing anger management skills and discipline techniques that empower parents of any age child to become calmer and make more effective discipline decisions.
