Early Intervention for Children With Disabilities/Delays (Visual Impairments)

Provider: THERAPEUTIC LIVING CENTERS FOR THE BLIND

The agency provides family support for parents of newborns through 3 year olds with blindness or visual impairments. Service includes Early Intervention programs which may include development of an individualized service plan with the family; arrangement for therapies such as occupational, physical and language therapy; assistance with application for Regional Center services; support groups and educational services. Crisis services are available to families who have an infant blind at birth or whom the hospital believes may develop visual impairment.

Support groups include a family group for parents of a blind or visually impaired infant or toddler; a support group for parents of children, ages 0 to 5 with multiple disabilities; and educational, experiential and recreational activities for families. The agency has a swimming pool and conducts parent/child activity groups and swim sessions.

Application Procedure
Call for information or to apply. An initial referral from Regional Center is not required for inclusion; however, if application to Regional Center is appropriate, staff will assist parents with the application process.
Fees
For early intervention services, fees are not charged for the first seven sessions; funds from Regional Center or other funding agency may be applied after that.
