Peer Counseling (Hearing Loss)

The agency provides services for people with disabilities of all ages who are deaf or hearing impaired who live, primarily, in Orange County and the southeast part of Los Angeles County. Services include hearing augmentation aids, individual advocacy, peer counseling, printed materials, sign language interpretation, and specialized information and referral. There are no geographic restrictions.
Services include activities and events for the deaf community, educational information about deafness and deaf culture, communication access (Videophone, TDD and computer) in the lobby, deaf-related community events information, parenting classes, peer counseling, telephone interpreting for contact with hearing persons or agencies over the telephone, and help with translation of documents into American Sign Language. Peer counseling is available for any type of problem. Staff can also refer people to professional counselors for personal, marital, family, or financial problems.
Advocacy is provided for individuals or groups for situations which involve discrimination related to hearing disability in employment, education, benefits, communication, and access. Certified mediators are available for mediation services.

Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Closed on third Friday of each month for staff training.
