Special Education
Provider: WAYFINDER FAMILY SERVICES
The organization provides a State-certified Special Education non-public school for children and youth to age 21 who have visual impairments or multiple disabilities. Students learn communication skills, life skills, orientation and mobility skills, independent living skills and socialization skills. There are no geographic restrictions.
Disabilities other than blindness may include Autistic behaviors, Cerebral Palsy, chronic heart disorders, drug exposed/Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and severe neurological disorders.
Instruction is individualized and conducted by teachers and aides who are degreed and certified in Special Education and Blind Education. Onsite staff also include medical personnel. Therapies for students may also include occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.
