Extended Child Care
Provider: JEFFREY FOUNDATION - SPECIAL CHILD AND FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
The center provides child care services for youth who have disabilities. Services include child care centers, day camps, early head start, extended day care, inclusive preschools, and infant care centers. Early head start is restricted to families living in zip code 90016. There are no geographic restrictions for other services.
Services include early head start and child care for infants and toddlers, age two and three; early education pre-school for children ages three to five; and an extended day care program for school age youth age five to 13 and for high school age youth, 14 to 22 years of age.
The center also provides a therapeutic infant care facility which serves families, including TANF recipients. Most families are referred to the program from Regional center, from GAIN programs for TANF recipients, or other social service agency which deals with high risk infants and youth.
The center provides a therapeutic nursery for high risk and disabled infants and toddlers from birth to age 18 months. The program also provides extended day care for preschoolers, school-age children, adolescents to age 21.
The after-school program provides age-appropriate educational, recreational and therapeutic activities to develop each child's independence and self-esteem. Programming includes vocational skills, arts, crafts, grooming and daily living skills. The Reading Readiness program helps parent and child bond through reading development.
There is also a full day-camp program during school closures.
Support services include parent training classes and access to the center's family resource center.
