Parent Support Groups (Parents of People With Disabilities)

The center provides family life education services for families of children with disabilities in Los Angeles County. Services include parent/child activity groups, court ordered parenting programs, parenting skills classes, parent support groups, and public awareness/education. There are no geographic restrictions.

Family support services include parent support groups and male parent support groups; workshops and training, which are also available to any one who has an interest in childhood disabilities; advocacy for children with disabilities; and referrals to additional resources.

The center provides a family resource center which offers computer access to a library of resources for parents, as well as other informational materials on a wide variety of subjects related to children with disabilities.

Parenting skills classes are for the general public and parents of children with disabilities; also provided when needed individual counseling for parents.

The Mommy and Me program emphasizes therapeutic development and interaction skills for hands-on learning for children and the caregiver in a natural environment.
