Internship Programs

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY AGING AND DISABILITIES DEPARTMENT - FLORENCE FIRESTONE COMMUNITY CENTER

  The agency provides volunteer opportunities for people who live in Los Angeles County. Services include clerical volunteer opportunities, information and referral volunteer opportunities, internship program opportunities, and meal preparation/serving volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

  The agency actively recruits adult volunteers to participate in the mediation service. These volunteers are required to attend 25 hours of agency training in mediation.

   Adult and student intern volunteers provide general clerical support, work information and referral hotlines, and prepare emergency food baskets. All training is provided by the agency, and the agency's community center specialist supervises the volunteers. The agency does not complete background checks, however, volunteers can not have a criminal record. Volunteers are not required to take or pass any tests or incur any costs, however, they are required to be able to lift 25 lbs. The agency accepts volunteers for any length of time.
