The agency provides child care services for low-income families in Central and South Central Los Angeles. Services include preschool, extended day care, and infant care programs for children of working parents ages two through five and nine through 13. A city sponsored program serves families who live in Central and South Central Los Angeles. Additionally, the agency also provides an on-site infant/toddler program for students at McAlister High and Y.O.U. Alternative Schools, and provides a special program called Ready, Set, Grow. Services are provided at seven locations. Services are generally restricted to residents of South Central Los Angeles.
The preschool programs are offered mornings and afternoons, and have a structured, educational focus to provide children with learning skills and motivation. Children must be toilet trained for acceptance in the program.
Infant and toddler day care are provided for full-days or part-days. Age appropriate activities are used to maximize the cognitive, social, emotional, physical, creative, and language development of each child.
A special program called Ready, Set, Grow provides behavioral interventions to promote healthy social and emotional development for children age five and younger. Staff conduct developmental assessments, provide play therapy as needed, and provide consultations and education for parents.
The Zenith Latchkey Literacy program provides before and after school programs for children from Kindergarten through Third Grade. The program provides family literacy programs, homework assistance and tutoring services at Trinity and Avalon Gardens Elementary Schools. An additional afterschool program is available for children age nine through 13.
