Play Therapy
Provider: FACT - FOCUS ON ALL CHILD THERAPIES
The agency provides services for people of all ages with developmental disabilities in Los Angeles county. Services include autism therapy, day treatment, developmental assessment, individual and group counseling, play therapy, support groups, and supported living services. Home visits may be available; there are no geographic restrictions.
Developmental assessment through the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) is available for individuals of all ages. More detailed reports may be provided if needed.
The agency also provides individual, family and group therapy; play therapy; and communication skills training. Social skills groups are available for all age groups including elementary, middle and high school students; young adults and adults age 18 and older.
Generating All Possibilities (GAP) is a day treatment program that helps young adults age 18 and older transition into adult life. The program includes support on college campuses, internships and volunteer opportunities with community partners, and a wide variety of workshops and activities. Academic support is available on the campuses of CSU Northridge, Los Angeles Mission College, Pierce College, Santa Monica College and West Los Angeles College. Young adults who have completed college or are not interested in taking classes may participate in the community programs up to five days per week. The program provides opportunities for self-advocacy, social and interpersonal interaction, and community exploration.
Supported living services are available for adults age 18 and older with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy or other developmental disability. The program helps with common daily living activities including selecting and moving into an apartment or home, money management, choosing personal assistants and interacting with the community.
