Benefits Assistance

Provider: SERVICE CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIFE

The agency provides disaster services for people with disabilities in the Pomona and San Gabriel Valley areas. Services include disaster preparedness information. Geographic restrictions apply for all services.

The agency works with the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) and the PG&E service area to provide disaster preparedness information and workshops. The goal is to enable people with disabilities/health conditions to remain safe while independent in their residences and communities during the activation of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event, disaster or other emergency. Staff assist individuals with developing a personalized disaster plan in the event of an emergency.

Individuals can also apply for assistance with power for durable medical equipment and other resources. Medical needs and income will be considered as part of the application process.

The agency can also assist clients to enroll in the PG&E Medical Baseline Program, and offer referrals to other local programs to help reduce utility bills, improve home energy efficiency and increase safety in the home.
