This is the government office for the city of Monrovia. Services include election information, city information lines, business licensing, building and occupancy inspections, permits, city maintenance and planning and zoning. Geographic restrictions apply for some services; business-related services are provided only for businesses located in Monrovia.
The city provides building permits, electrical permits, elevator permits, mechanical permits and plumbing permits for any contracted work done within city limits.
City maintenance includes street maintenance, street construction/repair, street lighting maintenance and street cleaning.

Application Procedure
Call or walk in for information, service or to apply for a business license. License applications must first be approved by the planning department; licenses are usually issued within two days. Home-based businesses are limited to phone or internet-based services; no outside employees or walk-in customers are allowed.
Business license applications are available at the Monrovia City Hall on Fridays.
Fees
There are no fees for most services. The fee for a commercial business license includes a $145 annual base fee, an $11 fee per employee, plus an inspection fee based on the square footage of the building. The fee for a home-based business license includes an annual $72 license fee. A processing fee also applies to these business permits. There are fixed fees for various permits.
