Job Corps

The program provides Job Corps job training programs for low-income people age 16 to 24 who lack employable skills. The agency operates Los Angeles County residential sites in downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and Van Nuys. The center serves Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Services include academic courses that are required to enter vocational training, job counseling and supportive services that are designed to assist the student in the selection of a vocation, and a subsequent 6 to 24 month training program. GED instruction is provided, and in some cases, a high school diploma may be obtained. Training programs are available in a variety of occupations including clerical, medical, and technical-trade areas. Trainees receive a monthly allowance, medical/dental care, personal counseling, and assistance with job placement following completion of the program. The program is residential, and provides room and board, and recreational and social activities. Training programs are also open to commuting or non-residential enrollees.
