Flu Vaccines
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES - HUBERT H. HUMPHREY COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER
The center provides health services for people of all ages who are primarily, in South Central Los Angeles and do not have a family doctor or dentist. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to low-income people. Services include CHDP exams, case/care management for women with pregnancy complications, dental care, general health care, geriatrics, gynecological care, immunizations, nutrition education, lab services, pediatrics, a pharmacy, physical therapy, prenatal care, sexually transmitted disease treatment, social services, and comprehensive women's health services. There are no geographic restrictions.
Immunizations such as Hepatitis A and B; Measles, Mumps and Rubella; Influenza; Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus; Pneumococcal Polysaccharid and Poliovirus, may be available to adults, age 19 and older; however, there is limited availability at DPH and DHS clinic facilities. Call for information about vaccine availability.
CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.
The medical center participates in the Mama's Neighborhood Strong Start for Families Program for pregnant women who are at high risk for having a preterm birth. Throughout the pregnancy and for up to 10 weeks postpartum, care coordinators help women manage medical appointments and link women with community agencies for additional supportive services. To be eligible, a woman must enroll as a prenatal patient with LA County Department of Health Services (DHS).
The center cannot care for people who are experiencing major emergencies, but will treat minor injuries such as cuts and bruises. Emergency services are available at the Los Angeles County, University of Southern California Medical Center (LAC USC) and Harbor UCLA Medical Center.
Dental services include emergency dental care, fillings, cleaning and root canals only on the front teeth.
Contraception and reproductive health services are provided. Low-income individuals may qualify for services under the State Family PACT program. People whose income is less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible. Services under Family PACT include a complete physical examination, STD testing and treatment, and contraceptive counseling and services. The Family PACT program serves females from 12 to 55 years, and males from 12 to 65 years. Reproductive health services include colposcopy; mammography; and pap smears.
