The program provides education services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to low-income people and CalWORKs recipient families. Services include educational therapy, multicultural education, organizational development and management services, professional continuing education, public awareness/education, research, and school based integrated services. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program provides educational therapy and school-based integrated services for youth up to 21 years of age. Treatment plans for these services are individualized and include diagnostic and evaluation services to address problems that interfere with school functioning such as ADD/ADHD, anxiety, conduct disorders, developmental disabilities, depression, emotional disorders and learning disabilities.

The institute provides professional continuing education courses for psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, Psychologists, MFT's, MSW's, LCSW's, Attorneys, School Administrators and Teachers. Course offerings may vary and include domestic violence issues, identifying and treating high-risk youth, providing service to immigrant clients, acculturation issues and cultural competency.

Professional continuing education is provided for attorneys, LCSW's, MSW's, nurses, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, school administrators and teachers. Course topics vary, however, all are approved to provide participants with CEU units. Technical assistance is provided to organizations, professional groups, schools and service providers through consulting services and specialized training programs.

Public awareness/education is provided through conferences, public speakers and workshops for the general public, private organizations and service providers.

The institute conducts, participates in and generates research about providing human services to diverse and immigrant communities. Research findings are submitted for publication in professional journals, professional conferences and research forums.

School-based integrated services are provided by arrangement with parents or local school-site administrators. Proof of family income is required; proof of CalWORKs enrollment is required to receive services at no cost. Call for schedule of CEU courses, consulting services, specialized training services and for information about community presentations and workshops.
Fees
Services are provided free of cost for CalWORKs families; otherwise, fees are set on a sliding scale which depends on the client's income. Medi-Cal, Medicare and Private insurance are accepted.
