Juvenile Delinquency Prevention
Provider: SHIELDS FOR FAMILIES INC - GENESIS FAMILY DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM
The program offers youth services to adolescents under 18 and their families who live in the South Central/Compton area. Services include a high school diploma program, juvenile deliquency prevention, juvenile diversion and youth development programs. Some geographic restrictions apply.
"Revelation" is a juvenile crime prevention program which provides a continuum of services to families in Watts. The program is a juvenile crime prevention program for adolescent first-time offenders. The program also runs two school-based programs (Mothers and Sons and FAS) in the Watts area.
"Heros and Sheros" is a juvenile delinquency prevention program and youth development program for high risk youths, age 6 to 14, whose parents are involved in a substance abuse treatment program at Shields or another agency. Services are provided after school and on weekends at the Genesis site and the Eden site; the program includes alcohol and drug education, individual and group counseling, social and recreational activities, transportation, and tutoring.
