Glasses Donation Programs

The society provides health services related to optometry for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services include glasses donation programs, health education, optometric membership associations, and optometric referrals. There are no geographic restrictions.

This is a professional membership association which is open to optometrists who are practicing in Los Angeles County.

Membership is open to practitioners who meet state licensing guidelines, have been recommended by another member and have passed the screening procedure. Members are expected to acquire continuing education units in addition to meeting the state requirements to remain in good standing.

Health education includes visual health and safety instruction information through publications, a speakers bureau, and visual screening for groups and schools.

Referrals are provided and are based on geographic location, language capability and specialty including vision testing, contact lenses, low vision aids, and developmental and orthopic vision training.

The society also accepts and investigates written complaints concerning its' members and conducts a peer review board hearing when necessary. It also accepts used glasses which are coded and donated to the direct relief fund.
