EMERGENCY ORDER

There is currently a declaration of local emergency order in place: 

  • Allows impacted schools to operate within non-residential zones in Santa Monica temporarily
  • Suspends preferential parking rules and enforcement for residents, providing accommodations for those displaced by the Palisades Fire
  • Prohibits price gouging for emergency and recovery goods and services
  • Restricts evictions of residential tenants who provide accommodation to those displaced by evacuation orders, including their pets
  • Prohibits construction activities in evacuation areas and allows for extended time to complete the work .

CURFEW

As of January 9th, a curfew from 6:00pm to 6:00am is imposed in any "Evacuation Order Zone" or any "Evacuation Warning Zone" 

The order shall not apply to residents living within an evacuation warning zone, who are traveling to or from their places of residence.

ADDRESS VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT: When approaching the roadblock, residents must provide proof of residency. Acceptable forms of identification are a photo ID that displays the resident’s name, photo, and physical address. Please have these documents ready to ensure a smooth verification process.

  • EVACUATION WARNING remains for all additional areas north of Montana Avenue and this WARNING is now expanded to all areas north of Wilshire Boulevard and west of 10th Street. All areas North of San Vicente Boulevard are also under an Evacuation Warning. Residents in this area should gather essentials and prepare to leave if needed.

City of Santa Monica

  • Ocean Avenue, 7th Street, and 26th Street have all been shut down to northbound traffic into the Palisades
  • I-10 westbound has been shut down at Lincoln Boulevard. All additional access to northbound Pacific Coast Highway has been closed off
  • Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Entrada Drive and Malibu Canyon Road
  • Southbound Las Virgenes and Malibu Canyon is closed at Lost Hills Road is closed at Pacific Coast Highway
  • Southbound Old Topanga Canyon is closed at Mulholland Drive
  • Eastbound Mulholland Highway is closed at Malibu Canyon

POWER OUTAGE INFORMATION & WATER ALERTS

LA Department of Water and Power: DWP has issued a DO-NOT-DRINK water notification alert as of Friday, January 10, 2025.

Residents in Pacific Palisades zip code 90272 and adjacent communities in the LADWP service area north of San Vicente Blvd.

Bottled water should be used for all drinking (including baby formula and juice), brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice and food preparation until further notice. This also applies to pets and domestic animals. Additionally, do not try to treat the water yourself. Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting water stand will not make the water safe to drink.

LADWP will be distributing bottled water to affected customers at the following distribution locations:

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION ASSISTANCE:

Walgreens pharmacists may dispense emergency medication refills for most medications without prescriber authorization during a declared emergency. A store locator is available on the website.

US MAIL SERVICE INFORMATION FOR AFFECTED AREAS

Several USPS locations within the areas affected by fires have relocated their retail and delivery operations. Residents in these affected areas can pick up their mail at the new locations or submit an Official Mail Forwarding Change of Address Order to reroute their mail.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

See the Los Angeles County Office of Education for a list of all LA County School Districts reporting closures.

  • Pasadena Unified School District (closed through Jan. 17)
  • Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District (Malibu schools will remain closed through Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Santa Monica schools, except Roosevelt Elementary, reopened on Monday, January 13, 2025)

LAUSD Fire and Wind-Related School Closures

Los Angeles Unified School District will open most schools and offices on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Pasadena Community College PCC campuses (Colorado, Foothill, Jefferson) are opening, and classes resume Monday, Jan. 13. For more information and updates visit https://pasadena.edu/fireupdates/

Los Angeles Community College District

All LACCD colleges will continue remote operations on Friday, January 10, and Saturday, January 11, 2025. All in-person classes and support services will remain available via Zoom or online. Normal operations are anticipated to resume on Monday, January 13, 2025. Students and staff are encouraged to monitor their college websites for any updates or changes.

Santa Monica College will resume on-ground classes, services, and business operations at its main campus and all satellite campuses, with the exception of SMC Malibu, on Monday, January 13, 2025.

UCLA is operating under emergency status — undergraduate & graduate classes remote through Friday, Jan. 17 — UCLA Health hospitals are OPEN.

CHILDCARE RESOURCES

All YMCA locations are offering free childcare for children of first responders, essential workers and children of families who were displaced, evacuated, or lost property, or cannot attend school because their school has temporarily closed. Children must be at least 4 years and 9 months and must be in grades TK through 8th. Space is limited; visit YMCA Childcare for information and to register.

GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT CLOSURES

  • LA County Library closed locations: Malibu and Topanga. 
  • All Pasadena libraries will remain closed until further notice.
  • Parks and Recreation closed locations are listed at https://parks.lacounty.gov/
  • The entire Angeles National Forest is temporarily closed January 8th through January 15th.

FAMILY SOURCE CENTERS

City of Los Angeles Community Investment for Families (CIFD) Family Source Emergency Assistance Centers are open and available to support families in the surrounding communities with emergency assistance, including those impacted by the California wildfires. These centers are open and available to assist families with necessities and community resources, there are no income eligibility requirements.

PET FOOD & INFORMATION

Petco is offering a free locator service to families whose pets are missing as a result of the fires. If you have lost or found a pet, sign up online for Petco Love Lost.

Best Friends Animal Society has activated two pet pantry locations that can provide supplies including pet food, cat litter, pet beds and other items as well as human sanitary products for those who have lost everything. Both pantries are open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at these locations:

  1. Best Friends Pet Adoption Center, 1845 Pontius Ave., Los Angeles 90025. (No human sanitary items.)
  2. Best Friends Clinic, 17411 Chatsworth St., Suite 100, Granada Hills 91344. (Human sanitary items available.)

CAMP has activated an emergency mobile clinic effort to provide free veterinary care to impacted pets displaced by the LA wildfires. To book an appointment call (310)574-5555.

  1. North Central Animal Shelter, 3201 Lacy St. Los Angeles 90031 - 8:00am to 2:30pm.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is serving free meals to those affected, including first responders in Southern California in response to the multiple active wildfires. Visit WCK for the locations and times.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has joined local city councils to partner with community organizations to accept in-kind, material donations. Please do not drop off donations at fire stations or shelters as it impacts the critical operations of these frontline responders.
