Independent Living Skills Instruction

The agency provides services for adults age 18 and older with developmental disabilities. Services include independent living skills instruction. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

Independent living skills instruction include a basic activities program. The objectives of the program are to provide appropriate guidance, instruction and purposeful opportunities for people who have special developmental needs; to reinforce skills already learned; to introduce clients to new skills and broaden their experience; and ultimately, to prepare participants to live more independently within their own home environment and the greater community.

The living skills curriculum includes instruction in personal grooming and hygiene, human development, money management, shopping, nutrition, spoken and written communication, food preparation, housekeeping, community awareness, socialization, health, work and safety.
